Ambulatory Surgical Center

An Ambulatory surgical center is a specialized facility that offers outpatient surgical care to citizens. In these centers the patient is not admitted to the facility and can return to their homes the same day of their procedures. These medical facilities are cheaper and are set up in a calmer and comfortable environment.

Whether you are looking to open an ambulatory surgical center or are looking to work in one, you will have to get your due diligence done. This includes submitting your fingerprints for a comprehensive state and national criminal record check. FEFPS is an FDLE-approved center that provides seamless and convenient fingerprinting services to AHCA providers.

What is an Ambulatory Surgical Center?

Ambulatory surgical centers are modern health care facilities that offer same-day surgical procedures to citizens. The patient can go home the same day of their procedure. These centers have transformed the outpatient experience for millions of Americans, giving them an easy and cheaper alternative to hospital-based procedures.

These surgical centers perform both preventive and diagnostic procedures. An ambulatory surgical center had become a popular alternative due to their flexible scheduling options and a comfortable environment. These centers place and serve their communities at the center of their work. You can get minor surgical procedures done at an ASC, like eye, ENT, vascular, urology, or orthopedic procedures.

Types of Ambulatory Surgical Center

An ambulatory surgical center can be of two types. This depends upon who owns the center.

  • Hospital-Owned: A hospital-owned ambulatory surgical center is one which has a common ownership or licensure with aa hospital. These centers are outpatient facilities and are controlled by hospitals.
  • Independent: An independent ambulatory surgical center is one which is not owned by any hospital or another existing medical facility. These centers are owned by individual providers offering outpatient services.

Establishing an Ambulatory Surgical Center:

An ambulatory surgical center is a licensed AHCA facility, whose primary purpose is to provide electric surgical care. These centers represent the modern health care service of America, with providers working day and night to serve their communities. If you are looking to establish an ambulatory surgical center, you will need to first get your center licensed.

The licensure process requires you to submit a bunch of documents before your license application is reviewed. It is always suggested to start your application process at least 4 months prior to the expected opening date of your surgical center. The AHCA would also be involved in the approval of the facility construction documents, along with the inspection of actual construction. You will also have to get your facility medicare certified through HCFA.

Along with this, you will have to submit your fingerprints for a comprehensive background research as well. AHCA requires all ambulatory surgical center owners to get a Level 2 fingerprinting done at an FDLE-approved center. FEFPS offers fast and easy live scan fingerprinting for getting your AHCA license approved.

Hiring Service Providers at an Ambulatory Surgical Center:

Once your license is approved for an individual or hospital-owned ambulatory surgical center, you will also have to hire professional service care providers. While hiring a provider, you need to make sure that they are at least 21 years of age and have received proper training in their profession. It is always advised to conduct a training program for your new recruits.

Along with this, your employees will also have to submit their fingerprints at an FDLE approved center for a Level 2 criminal background search. At FEFPS, we provide you with secure, effortless, and high-quality livescan fingerprinting services at an affordable cost. All your employees fingerprints would be submitted to the FDLE the same day. It can take up to 3 days to generate a state and national criminal background report.
