Find Trusted VA Community Care Members for Veterans

Veterans Desk is a veteran-built independent IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit making VA Community Care easier to navigate — so veterans and families can reach care options with fewer preventable delays, and independent professionals can better understand the path to serving them. Our platform is FREE for veterans and their families.

What We Do

The Process

How VA Community Care Works

Six steps from your VA Primary Care visit to a paid claim with a Community Care provider. The whole flow demystified.

01

Start with VA Primary Care (VHA)

Discuss your condition and options with your VA PCP.

02

Referral Request

If appropriate, your VA PCP submits a Community Care referral.

03

Authorization Letter

Watch for it — referral does not equal authorization.

04

Choose a CCN Member

Pick a licensed independent professional from the directory.

05

Appointment & Care

Member sends visit notes back to the VA after your appointment.

06

Follow Up With the VA

Confirm the records reached your file. You may receive a Patient Statement for any copay.

Two Different Systems

VHA vs. VBA — Know the Difference

Two parts of the VA. Two different jobs. Knowing which one to talk to saves weeks.
VHA · Health Care

Veterans Health Administration

Doctors, referrals, appointments, and Community Care authorizations. Your clinical care happens here.

vs

VBA · Benefits

Veterans Benefits Administration

Disability ratings and compensation decisions. Your VA PCP does not decide disability ratings — they guide treatment options first.
