Free Veteran Service

Removing Financial Barriers to VA Community Care

A $15 or $50 copay should not stand between you and the care you’ve earned. The Veterans Desk Copay Relief Program helps eligible veterans cover out-of-pocket VA copays for approved medical education and evaluation visits within the VA Community Care Network. This is a free Veteran Service operated by Veterans Desk, Inc., a Florida 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
The program is funded by sponsors, foundations, and individual donors, and is administered as a payer of last resort — meaning we cover the copay only after the VA has processed your claim and issued a formal Patient Statement showing your responsibility. Read more about Veterans Desk or learn how the program is funded on our Sponsors page.

How the Program Works

When you see a provider through the VA Community Care Network, that provider bills the VA directly — not you. After the VA processes the claim, they will mail you a VA Patient Statement if you owe a copay. That is the bill we help you cover.

Provider-Neutral

You choose your own approved VA Community Care Network provider. We never steer patients to specific clinics.

Needs-Based

Assistance is determined through documented financial need so resources reach the veterans who need them most.

Payer of Last Resort

Applied only after the VA has processed your claim and issued a final Patient Statement.

Forward-Looking

We cover upcoming or current-year copays only. We do not pay arrears or bills from prior program years.

Program Funding & Availability

Our program operates on an annual funding cycle beginning July 1, 2026. Assistance is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible veterans who meet program requirements. Once our annual allocation is fully committed, the program closes until the next funding cycle. We post real-time program status on our website and notify applicants immediately if funding has been exhausted. We strongly encourage veterans to apply as early in the fiscal year as possible and before scheduling non-emergency visits.

Your Path to Coverage: Four Simple Steps

1

How the Program Works

Complete our online application below before scheduling your appointment to ensure funding availability. You’ll need proof of veteran status, copay documentation (EOB, authorization, or provider quote), and basic financial information. Most applications are reviewed within 7–14 business daysJump to application form →
2

Receive Approval & Voucher

If approved, we issue a digital voucher (up to $50) valid for 60 days. This represents our commitment to cover your upcoming VA copay for one approved visit. Track voucher status through our secure portal.
3

Get the Care You Need

See your chosen, licensed VA Community Care Network provider within your voucher validity period. Do not pay the provider directly at the clinic. The provider bills the VA. After processing, the VA mails you a formal Patient Statement.
4

Submit for Payment Within 30 Days

Upload your final documentation (EOB, receipts, or invoices) to our secure portal within 30 days of your visit date. If approved, Veterans Desk pays your provider directly upon receipt of the itemized invoice showing your patient responsibility.
